Flagler County's Manatee Protection Plan is intended to assist in protecting manatees and their habitats to ensure their continued survival. One of the objectives is to reduce the number of boat-related mortalities. Speed zones are in effect annually between May 1 and September 7. Maps are located to the left.

The Slow Speed is defined as the speed at which all vessels are completely off plane and settled in the water. Because this will vary greatly from vessel to vessel, this speed has also been defined  about 5 to 9 mph.
