Personal Preparedness & Special Needs
Flagler County Emergency Management urges residents to take steps to ensure their families and households are ready in the event of an emergency. All emergencies — whether a tropical weather system, tornado, or wildfire — affect everyone differently based on variables such as household size, age, medical needs, and pets.
Please use the resources below for help creating a personal and family emergency plan.
Be informed. Be prepared. Be safe.
Resources
- Home Preparedness: Free Wind Mitigation Inspections and home mitigation/hardening grants.
- Residents who own their single-family homes, are likely to be eligible for a free home wind (hurricane) inspection, through the My Safe Florida Home program.
- This inspection will identify potential improvements that can be made to your home to better withstand hurricane force winds and may qualify you for significant homeowner's insurance discounts.
- Certain homeowners who live within the “Windborne Debris Region” may also qualify for grants to offset some of the cost of installing approved wind-strengthening measures.
- This region is generally those homes within one mile of the coastline and includes everything east of the Intracoastal Waterway and properties east of a line extending from Colbert Lane to Roberts Road down John Anderson Highway.
