Please join us at the Flagler County Public Library for history presentations by Zach Zacharias, Senior Curator of Education and History at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach, FL.

Topic: "The Famous Paintings of George Washington"

At first, George Washington was a reluctant portrait-sitter.  Over time, his growing patience toward the capturing of his likeness produced some of the most celebrated works of art in America.  Learn about the famous painting of Washington crossing of the Delaware River and Gilbert Stuart's face of the dollar bill and more.  Washington was commonly depicted as a general, a president, and family man.  Discover the symbolism, the history and provenance behind these American treasures.
